3 Ways to Go Green this November 2009
November is a month of Thanksgiving and here at Be Moore Green, we are thankful for our beautiful earth. We want to keep our planet looking good so we’ve come up with a list of 3 ways to go green this November.
1. Switch to CFL’s
Compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs can save you quite a bit of money compared to incandescent light bulbs. According to the Energy Star website, CFL’s can save over $30 over their life and pay for themselves in about 6 months. They use 75% less energy compared to incandescent lights and last up to 10 times as long (around 10,000 hours)!
2. Slay the Vampire Energy
Many of your electronics and appliances use electricity even when they are turned off. This lost energy is called vampire energy. Over time this wasted electricity can add up and cost you a lot of money. Check out my post “Slaying Vampire Energy” for some tips on how to prevent your money from being sucked away.
3. Wipe Your Feet
Buy a door mat for each of your exterior doors. This way you and your guests will be able to wipe the dirt off your feet which could include substances such as oil, lawn fertilizer, etc. This will not only help keep your floors clean and healthy, but it will also help improve the air quality in your house because there will be less dirt that can become airborne.
