A “rain garden” is a unique way to not only go green, but also to beautify your yard. A rain garden is a depression in the ground that collects rainwater that runs off of the surrounding area such as your roof or driveway. Rain gardens help reduce the amount of runoff from your property by collecting the water and allowing it to soak into the ground instead of into storm drains.

They are usually filled with plants and grass to help filter the water while also beautifying the area. It’s best to use plants native to the area because they will survive better in their natural environment.

Another benefit of a rain garden is that it will attract birds and butterflies!
