17 May 2009 No Comment

The goal here at BeMooreGreen is to show everyone that being green is a smart and easy way to save money and help preserve the environment. What better way to do that than with a list of ways to go green for free? There are countless ways to green your lifestyle, but a lot of them cost money. I’ve thought about it and compiled my Top 15 ways that you can make your life a little more green for free! So, without further ado, here are the first 5 ways to go green:

shirt

15 – Use Old Shirts as Rags

I’m sure everyone has those old, worn out T-shirts hanging in their closest that they aren’t quite sure what to do with. Why not use them as rags? Instead of going out and buying new cloths, use your old T-shirts. You can use them for anything from a hand towel to wipe your hands after working in your garden to a cloth to clean the tires on your car!

14 – Print on Both Sides of the Paper

By using both sides of the paper when you print, you could cut down your use of paper by 50%! This may take some getting used to if your printer doesn’t have an option to print on both sides. If it doesn’t, you just have to print 1 page, flip the paper over, and feed it through the printer again. You could even install GreenPrint on your computer to also help cut down on how much paper and ink you use when printing.

13 – Use Reusable Towels

Instead of buying an endless amount of paper towels, try out reusable towels instead. Reusable towels can be thrown in the wash when they get dirty and used over and over again. You won’t have to keep buying new ones and you won’t have to throw them out.

newspapers

12 – Use Old Newspapers to Clean Windows

Not sure what to do with the newspaper once your done reading the comics? I have a solution for you. Save them and use them to clean your windows and mirrors. This way you won’t have to buy paper towels and you’ll get an extra use out of the paper before you recycle it. An added benefit is that the newspaper won’t leave streaks!

11 – Schedule Your Errands

Try to plan your errands and shopping at different stores on the same day. Instead of going to a store one day and then going to the one in the same area the next day, try to schedule your trips on the same day. This way you will be driving less and using less gas, which means more money for you!
What do you guys think? Have you tried any of these ways to go green yourself?
