As the amount of clean water decreases every day, the need to conserve it increases. Water is a precious resource that everyone needs to survive. Here are 5 ways that you can help to conserve our water:

  1. Turning off the water while you brush your teeth can save up to 50 gallons per week.
  2. Fixing faucets and pipes that are broken and leaking can save up to 140 gallons per week.
  3. Using low flow faucets and shower heads can save over 200 gallons per week.
  4. By only using the washing machine and dishwasher when they are full can save over 800 gallons per month.
  5. If you don’t already have a low-flow toilet, place a bottle filled with sand or water in the tank of your toilet to reduce the amount of water used per flush and save over 25 gallons per week.

BONUS TIP: When landscaping, buy plants that don’t need to be watered that often.

Another way to save water is to wash your car at a car wash rather than on your front lawn. This is because if you wash it on your lawn or in your driveway, the soap filled water ends up in runoff drains and eventually back in the ocean. But car washes are required to treat their run off water before it makes it’s way into the sea.
